The editorial “Granstalgia” explores the newfound appreciation of the elderly due to the coronavirus pandemic, the forefront of our minds as we stay home to protect them; uniting prohibited forcing us to value our time with them. During the lockdown, we were all able to experience that sense of isolation the elderly endure through shielding and living in care homes, as well as the feeling of retirement while in quarantine- not being able to work, rediscovering, and finding new hobbies. “Granstalgia” features clothing that is reminiscent of a generation that society has been separated from over this past year. The boy featured, Ben Clifton has been leading the way in this sense of style, an old soul with young energy. I like to embrace my subject’s playful childlike nature in my work, experimenting with pose through both direction and my model’s natural demeanour.
